Our rescued horses need to be placed into adoptive homes to make room for horses still in harm’s way.
Our primary goal is to match our rescued horses into their perfect forever homes. The first step in the process is to fill out an adoption application. We must have an application on file first before we can go to step 2. Videos and additional pictures will be available on request once a completed application is returned and approved. To fill out an adoption application, please CLICK HERE or request one by email at [email protected]. We keep our adoptions fees very low, although extra donations are always welcome. We are funded entirely by our generous supporters.

ADOPTION PENDING! Through NO fault of his own, Rip is back up for adoption. When we brought him home a couple of months ago, we used him as a lesson horse at camp for beginner riders and he was a STAR!
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS POSTED ABOVE Registered Name “Twofourseven” aka Rip Wheeler 16.2 hands American Standardbred DOB 02/12/2005 Track Earnings $133,724 Sold to Amish in approximately 2013 Adoption fee with contract $800.00 Located in Marine City, MI Rip came to us when he was thrown away at auction on December 2, 2022 after he was injured and his usefulness was over. He sustained a large shoulder injury that is now fully healed. We outbid the kill buyers to keep him from heading to slaughter. Rip is a very kind soul, sweet soul with just enough sass to make him fun. We just started him under saddle and he has been an absolute star. While he does not really know about legs and riding yet, he has been letter perfect in every lesson. He is learning quickly how to move off legs and move forward freely. He has been on several trail rides. He’s super obedient, safe and quiet but does have a bit of forward. He does trot sometimes in the pasture, but on the trail he gaits 100% of the time. His ideal home would be with a family that wants a trail horse and companion. We used him this summer as a pony ride horse for our events and he was an absolute star even with screaming. toddlers lol. He just needs to learn to move forward without voice commands. He is absolutely sound and fully vaccinated, teeth floated, dewormed and farrier work done. He is a very easy keeper and needs no maintenance. He is thickly built and can carry a heavier rider. Sunshine and Moonshine
Adoption fee with contract $800.00 for both PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS POSTED ABOVE We rescued Sunshine from the Sugarcreek Auction in February 2023. Based on her condition and how she acted, she appeared to be a very old donkey. Her body condition was terrible, her hooves overgrown and she had one ear that was broken. She was afraid of all of us, desperately trying to hide in the corner of the stall. When we brought her home, she wouldn’t even make eye contact with us for months. Vet report stated she was only about 5 years old. She had a worm load that FAR exceeded normal, well over 2000. The worms were literally eating her from the inside out. Fast forward 7 months to September 1, 2023. She was a happy, healthy, crazy sweet donkey who gave birth to a beautiful near black jack donkey. We named him Moonshine. We made a personal promise to Sunshine she would never know suffering again and that includes removing Moonshine from her life. Moonshine is completely weaned and they are great bonded friends and spend their days playing in the field with the horses and each other. Moonshine and Sunshine are now available for adoption together to the perfect home. If the absolute perfect home cannot be found, they will live their lives here. Sunshine is a standard donkey and Moonshine will very likely end up being VERY close to being a Mammoth Donkey. He will most likely be big enough to be ridden. Sunshine still needs a lot of patience with a farrier, especially if the farrier is male. Moonshine is mostly good, but he IS now an adolescent with all the “no” attached to it. We will ONLY allow visits with an approved adoption application first. You MUST have donkey handling experience. Unfortunately, these are not the type of donkeys for a first-time donkey handler. If you can give the love they deserve, please fill out an application. |
