How to Play a Progressive Raffle Card Game
A progressive raffle works much like a lottery. A ticket is purchased, a drawing happens, and if nobody wins, those tickets are thrown out and the money already put into the drawing “rolls over” to the following week, which makes the jackpot “progressively” bigger as long as nobody wins.
Any card can be the winning card, however most games are a Jack of Spades Progressive Raffle. A deck of 52 cards is used and those cards are hidden in numbered envelopes from 1-52 and in a locked wallboard. One of those hidden envelopes contains the Jack of Spades. Tickets are purchased, normally for $5 each. You can choose to write your own number on your ticket or IF no number is indicated ticket, we have a set of rules that tells us which number to pick for you,
Once a week, all of the tickets purchased from the previous week are put into a drum and one ticket is randomly drawn. A numbered envelope on the board is chosen and revealed. If the numbered envelope is the Jack of Spades, YOU WIN HALF OF THE MONEY TAKEN IN. If it is NOT the Jack of Spades, that card is turned over and placed back on the board and the corresponding number is no longer valid. The tickets are thrown out and the raffle starts all over.
The money taken from the previous raffles is added into the new ticket sales and it keeps going week after week until the Jack of Spades is finally found. Once somebody pulls the Jack of Spades, the pot is split between the winner and the non-profit that is hosting the event. The longer nobody picks the Jack of Spades, the more the winning dollar amount multiplies!
