Good news, another one of our rescues is available for adoptions! Lacey was a little bay mare that was kept in a small pen by herself. At the time, the pen was devoured by mud that was up to 2 feet in some places! There was no where for her to escape from the mud and get somewhere dry, not even her small makeshift shelter. Lacey has come an extremely long way since we rescued her.
Upon arrival, she was very hard to catch and be near. Completely normal for a horse that hasn't been touched for a majority of her life. Horses are naturally fight or flight animals. We had to keep a breakaway halter and a short catch rope on her to bring her in during feeding time. We would need two people to bring her in from the pasture into a stall to be looked at or fed.
Today, she's much better than she ever was! She halters nicely, good ground manners, and has a beautiful blooming personality. She is a true project horse as she is not started, young, and eager to learn! With the right person, we can't wait to see her grow in the great horse she is already becoming. For more information on Lacey, head over to our adoption list under the "HOME" selection. Hover over it and go to "OUR ANIMALS" for a drop down selection where you will see "AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION."
